Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a sea-crossing bridge connecting Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai, and it is one of the longest sea-crossing bridges in the world.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) is a sea-crossing bridge connecting Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai. It is one of the longest sea-crossing bridges in the world, with a total length of approximately 55 kilometers. Officially opened to traffic in October 2018, the bridge aims to promote economic development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, strengthen transportation links, and enhance regional integration.

The HZMB consists of three sections: the Hong Kong section, the Zhuhai section, and the Macao section. It spans the Pearl River Estuary, passing over multiple islands and artificial islands, and incorporates cutting-edge engineering and construction technologies.

The construction of the HZMB was a massive engineering project, requiring innovative technologies and methods to overcome various technical challenges. The project began in 2009 and took approximately nine years to complete. It involved the collaboration of major construction companies such as China Communications Construction Group (CCCG), China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), and China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC). The project encompassed bridges, tunnels, and artificial islands, with its most critical component—the undersea tunnel—breaking multiple global engineering records.

During the construction process, our company’s mechanical rebar connection couplers were used, contributing to the successful completion of this landmark infrastructure.
